You can never outgive God
Each year, St Mary’s Church gives a minimum of 10% of all monies received to charity. We believe in being a generous church to those around us. We support a wide range of charities and causes, local, national and international. We do this through special events and activities as well as direct donations from our members and church funds.
Summer Fundraiser: 2018
Each summer here at St Mary’s we go all out to raise as much money as we can. We work so hard and our congregation is so generous that our usual target of £1,500 is exceeded. The money we raise is used to fund improvements to our church and centre but at least half of it is given away to a local charity. Over recent years we’ve supported a local counselling service for young people, the winter night shelter and the local branch of the mental health charity, MIND. The money we raise can really make a difference to the lives of those on the margins of our society and we’re delighted that this year our nominated charity is Extended Hands
Extended Hands supports women and girls to get back on their feet, to thrive and live their lives with dignity, pride and purpose. The charity brings women together through one to one and group social events. It provides development opportunities – training in computer skills and job skills are available - and supports home, hospital and prison visits.
Extended Hands is helping to give women and girls who may feel isolated, lonely, marginalised
or rejected a renewed sense of purpose. They are making new friends, developing new skills, learning about new cultures, and feeling newly empowered. Above all they are achieving social
and economic inclusion.
If you can support our funding drive by raising money yourself, coming along to one of the events our congregation will be delivering or simply making a donation we’d be very grateful. Anything you can do to help us reach our funding target would be greatly appreciated by both the church and the ladies and girls of Extended Hands.
