You can never outgive God
Each year, St Mary’s Church gives a minimum of 10% of all monies received to charity. We believe in being a generous church to those around us. We support a wide range of charities and causes, local, national and international. We do this through special events and activities as well as direct donations from our members and church funds.
Summer Fundraiser: 2017
In addition, each year we focus on raising funds for a particular local oisation/charity via our Summer Fundraiser campaign and, this year, we aimed to raise £1,500 between July and September, with 50% of monies raised to go to our cho charity, the Young People's Counsellling Service and 50% to help fund improvements to the church, thus benefitting the communities that use our church and centre.
At our service on 24th September, the culmination of our fundraising campaign, we announced that we had raised a total of £3,250 and were delighted to present to Louise Russell, for the Young People’s counselling Service, a cheque for £1,625.
Thank you to everyone for their generosity, support and creativity in helping us to exceed our target and to make a big difference to young people in the local area.
The charity provides a free, confidential counselling service to those aged between 11 and 25 who live in Whittlesey or the surrounding areas and who are suffering depression, abuse, bullying and many other problems. A course of 12 counselling sessions with a young person costs £360 to deliver. With your help they can ensure that a number of troubled young people get the support and care they need.
